Everything we grow and all the forms and shapes we create are formed by ourselves on out nursery in the East Midlands. We plant new stock onto the nursery each winter around November and December. We then undertake all aspects of nursery work required to create the highest quality product.
By only selling what we grow, we can ensure that everything leaving the nursery is of the highest standards. We endeavour to sell all plants as true to type and will not offer a substitute of any form or variety without first consulting the client.
Unlike garden centres, all our plant material is grown in the open ground not in plastic pots. We offer plants either bare-root – simply lifted from the ground with no soil attached. For certain species and many larger sizes we also offer root-balled plants – produced and sent out with a significant ball of the growing soil surrounding the roots. Although these methods of production limit the time of year when they can be moved successfully (usually from November to March) the benefits enjoyed in speed and rate of establishment more than outweigh this. Also, bare-root and root-balled plants are often significantly cheaper than a pot-grown plant of similar size.
Although there are a number of nurseries offering similar products in the UK the majority of the stock offered is imported from the continent, often with varying degrees of plant and root-ball quality. May we reiterate that we grow and form everything we sell on our own nursery.
